Safaricom has reduced its data bundle prices by more than half in a bid to level up with rates charged by other mobile service providers. As of now, Safaricom has the fastest browsing speed courtesy of 3G network yet they have the most expensive data rate plans in the sector. Additional new services by Safaricom include buying of data bundles online. The new data bundle tariffs from Safaricom have been classified into two categories; prepaid and post paid data bundle plans.

·        To activate the Safaricom broadband data bundles, send a text message with the price of requested bundle using your modem sim to 450. i.e. if you want to purchase 200MB, send 499 to 450.
·        Incase your bundle expires before it’s exhausted, you must subscribe to a new bundle to activate the expired bundle balance.
·        Note that data bundles expiring after 30 days will have a grace period of added 30 days to be activated through a new top up. After expiration of 90 days you will lose your bundle balance.
·        For data bundles expiring after 90 days will have added 90 days for renewal without losing bundle balance.
 Safaricom broadband out of bundle rate remains at Kshs.8 per megabyte.
